The main thing you’ll need is a silicone mold in the shape of unicorns. This will help give your cereal treats their signature shape.

No baking nor parchment paper is needed in this recipe.
What kind of marshmallow should I use for Unicorn Rice Krispie Treat?

The most enjoyable part, however, is when you get to let your creative side shine as you decorate your unicorn Rice Krispies.
Finally, you’ll need some sprinkles to top off your treats. Use any colors you like, or go with a unicorn-themed mix for added effect.
If you don’t have a silicone mold to make unicorn Rice Krispie Treats, don’t worry! You can alternatively fill a pan with a mixture instead, and cut out a unicorn with a unicorn shaped cookie cutter.
To prevent Rice Krispie Treats from sticking to the pan, place a baking sheet on the bottom of the pan.
Unicorn Rice Krispies Treat Recipe
- 3 cups Rice Krispies cereal
- 2 tablespoons salted butter
- 2 cups Marshmallows
- White chocolate or chocolate chips
- Food coloring
Step-by-Step Rice Krispie Treats
- Add Rice Krispies to a large bowl.
2. Dump the butter in a saucepan, and melt it over medium heat, or warm it in a microwave safe bowl on low heat.
3. When the butter has fully melted, turn the heat off and add the marshmallows.
Stir constantly until they melt.
(Optionally you can add a handful of white chocolate chips at this point).
4. Mix the melted marshmallows with the cereal, stirring constantly until the cereal is completely coated with the marshmallow mixture.
5. Scoop the Rice Krispie mixture into the unicorn mold.
You won’t need a baking sheet at this step, but you can use a layer of non stick cooking spray before adding Rice Krispies.
Wet your hands or use a small amount of oil on them, then press the mixture without sticking to your hands.
If you don’t want to get your hands dirty, use a buttered spatula or buttered spoon.
How to make dipped Rice Krispie treats?
Place the white chocolate in the microwave and melt it on medium power for one minute at a time. Stir after each interval, until completely melted. Or melt it with the double boiler method.
Divide the melted chocolate into equal portions, and in separate bowls, then add a few drops of food coloring into each bowl.
Spread the colorful chocolate on them and the dipped unicorn Rice Krispie treats are done.
The melted chocolate can cover the bottom part of the Krispie treat instead of the top layer. Or cover only certain parts of your unicorn, just like we did with our pink dipped unicorn shaped treat.
You have the ability to leave off the coating, or you can just add the white chocolate to the melted marshmallow.
Go wild with sprinkles and edible glitters.
Allow the Krispie Treats to cool completely. The fridge helps them to retain their shape and texture better. And your edible Rice Krispies are done.
Rainbow Rice Krispies
You can skip adding white chocolate on the top, and you can add it straight to the marshmallow mixture alongside the food coloring.
Create as many colors as you like.
Spread each color in between two wax papers, and roll it out with a rolling pin.
Put them on top of each other.
Once it’s cooled, cut it with a knife or cookie cutter.
