What is Unicorn Toast?
Unicorn toast is one of the best unicorn dishes, a special treat for children, or for the family. Loving unicorns is sufficient.
It’s the same as having a cake or cookie for breakfast, but a bit more nutritious if prepared in a healthy way.
But you don’t need to have a special occasion to create colorful breakfast food. You can brighten up the child menu with super vivid colors.
Making them is super easy. Kids can mix the colors, spread the cream cheese on the bread, and decorate them as they wish.
A toast can’t look prettier than this! Try our fun recipes to see them for yourself!
The original unicorn toast recipe comes from Adeline Waugh.

Girls’ Favorite Quick Unicorn Pink Toast Recipe
- 6 tablespoons of cream cheese
- 1 or 2 teaspoons of honey
- Few drops of food coloring
- Sprinkles
Instructions
Toast the bread. Additionally, you can cut the bread with a unicorn shape cookie cutter.
If you have a cookie cutter but would like a plain toast, just add some butter and it’s done.

Otherwise, mix 6 tablespoons of cream cheese with 1 teaspoon of honey.
Divide the mixture evenly into four or five different bowls to create the colors.
Add crushed fruits in different colors in each bowl for the healthy version.

Or add just a few drops of food coloring for the quick version of unicorn toast to get the different shades.
Spread plain cream cheese onto the toast in a thin layer to get the base.
Layer the cream cheese colors onto the base.
Add sprinkles in vibrant colors or coconut flakes if you prefer less sugar.
Extra Tips for Your Unicorn Toast
Use a butter knife and spread the cream cheese in different ways.
- Scoop a teaspoon from each color, put them next to each other, and create random lines.
- Or scoop in each corner and blend the colors with a butter knife to make a marbled look.
- Or simply spread it messy.
Colorful Cream Cheese
Colors of the healthy version
Smashed fruits will not only make colored cream cheese but it will taste nice too.

I prefer to use the more fruity version of unicorn toast. Fruits will give the cream cheese a nice shade.
Of course, natural pigment powders will give more vibrant colors, and you will only need a pinch or two.
Fruits and natural pigments can be used in the following ways:
Purple
smashed blueberries
freeze dried blueberries
freeze-dried blueberry powder
Colors of the quick version
All you need is liquid food coloring. It won’t give any taste to the cream cheese unless it’s flavored.
Add a few drops of food coloring into each bowl of cream cheese, then mix it well.
Be a Food Stylist of Your Unicorn Bread
It is time to take your unicorn toast to the next level!
Add sprinkles, sugar pearls, and any edible decoration like glitters, gold leaf flakes, candy eyes, unicorn horns, Unicorn Sprinkles Mix, soft gel diamonds.
Sprinkle it with colored coconut flakes, almond flakes, chopped pistachios, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, chopped hazelnuts, and sesame seeds if avoiding too much sugar.
Mermaid Toast Recipe
If your kids are more into mermaids, here is a great idea. Our girls really liked them. Yummy!
Turn a boring old piece of toast into a magical mermaid snack! Mermaid toast is a fun and easy breakfast to create for both kids and adults!
All you need is some cream cheese, food coloring, and a mermaid tail cookie cutter.

Spread some tinted cream cheese on the toast. Repeat it with other colors as you like.
Mix 1 teaspoon of cream cheese with a few drops of green food coloring until you get the desired mermaid shade (I used Teal, and needed only 1 drop).
Press the cookie cutter slightly on the bread and add the previously colored cream cheese. Now you can remove it and paint on some scales with a skewer or a toothpick. Voila! 🙂
In the same way you can make a dinosaur-, or princess toast, and anything you would like to cheer up your kids with.
